Answers to questions we're frequently asked
FAQs
What should I wear to my appointment?
We’d advise you to wear comfortable loose fitting clothes like a tracksuit or something you would workout in. Bear in mind we’ll need to see and examine the affected area closely and you may be asked to remove some clothing. Please wear shorts if you have a hip or leg issue and a singlet if it's a back, shoulder, neck or arms issue.
How long will my appointment be?
If your condition involves been a complex and long-term injury we strongly recommend a 1 hour initial appointment.
If your condition seems relatively new, or maybe a simple sprain, then a 30 minute initial appointment may be more suitable. Just call our reception for advice.
How many appointments will I need?
This varies from person to person depending on the issue. Following your first appointment and assessment your physiotherapist will outline how many appointments they think you will need to have and this can be reevaluated as the treatment progresses.
Will the therapist be wearing PPE?
The physiotherapist will be wearing PPE and will be adhering to strict infection control guidelines. Click here to review our Covid 19 measures.
Do I need a referral?
You may have received a referral from your Consultant or GP to attend physiotherapy, however, you do not need a referral to make an appointment. You can make a booking through our website or by contacting us directly.
Are physiotherapy fees covered by my health insurance?
Consultation fees are paid at each visit, after which we’ll give you a receipt. You can submit your receipts to your health insurer to claim a proportion of fees paid. Health insurance plans vary, but reimbursement can be as much as €40 per session. Check with your relevant health insurer with regard to your insurance plan for more details, or look up the benefits of your individual plan on: www.hia.ie. As chartered physiotherapists we are approved providers for all major health insurers including: VHI, Aviva, Laya Healthcare, HSF and Glo Health.
